Who has the power?
I saw the movie "For Colored Girls" this weekend. Let me just start by saying that I am not receiving any money for saying this - no checks from Tyler Perry were sent my way I can assure you (I guess this is the new thing to say now a days...LOL). Now with that said I think this was an awesome movie!
After seeing the movie I just kept thinking that we women have so much more power than we realize! We need to realize the importance of our self worth and never forget it.
As I think back over my life - it is the times when I "forgot" my self worth - forgot who I was that I lost some of my power!
We have the power to make our lives great or to shrink back into ourselves and allow the world to define us! We have the power to step full speed into our greatness - full speed into who we are to be - strong, fierce, awesome, resilient women.
We have the power - what will you do with yours!

Interest vs Commitment
"There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results."
Kenneth Blanchard
I just read this and thought it was an awesome quote and so I decided to share this with my Divas:-)
Are you committed or just interested in "living your best life"!
Let's get committed and get those results!

Much is given...much is required!
"To whom much is given...much is required"!
For some reason that quote is on my mind this morning (and for you Bible scholars..yes I know it is referencing Luke 12:48 - LOL)!
Today my friend and I are actually starting a mentoring group for girls...and I am excited but nervous at the same time! Perhaps we are taking on too much, why us, can we really do this, etc, etc, etc...but then I remembered...God provides you with talents so that you can help others! What good is it if you are given a gift and you keep it to yourself!
So "to whom much is given...much is required."
Are you giving your all...I hope so - that's the Diva Vybes way! :-)

Success - Preparation - Opportunity
“Success always comes when preparation meets opportunity” ~ Henry Hartman
Wow! How true this statement is! How many opportunities have we allowed to pass us by because we were not prepared! We must be deliberate about our success!
We have to want success like we want to breathe! Success is not just about having the big house, car, etc (another blog topic - LOL)but the goals we set out to achieve...we must be deliberate about attaining them.
Do you want to be successful? Make sure you are prepared for the opportunity - because it's coming your way!

The Transformation Process
"Adding wings to caterpillars does not create butterflies - it creates awkward and dysfunctional caterpillars. Butterflies are created through transformation."
~ Stephanie Marshall
Wow...I just read this and thought what an awesome and true quote.
So many times we just want the end result! We want to be successful, we want the great career, we want to lose those 10lbs (smile), we want better relationships with our family, spouse, children, whatever it is - but often we are not willing to put in the hard work or make the sacrifices that it takes to attain those goals.
Caterpillars must go through a process to become butterflies. There is work to be done!
Do you really want better for your life? Are you willing to put in the hard work? Are you ready to cut some people, places, things out of your life to achieve your goals?
We can do this! Let the transformation begin!

The Enemy Within
When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you. ~African Proverb
How true the above proverb is. Often times we are our own worst enemy. We beat ourselves up for the things, we should have, would have, could have done! We tear ourselves down to the point where we become broken vessels.
Today let's take some time to build ourselves back up...remove all the "negative internal chatter" and speak life into our existence.
Remember that change begins with each of us...we must be the change we want to see!

Our Deepest Fear
Today I just want to share the below passage to inspire us to be our very best! Not what the world considers the best...but we as individuals consider to be our best.
Let's be powerful..let's be resilient...let's be strong...and let's show the world that you cannot stop those Diva Vybes!
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear
is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness,
that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?
Actually who are we not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people
won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine as children do.
We were born to make manifest
the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And when we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
- Marianne Williamson

Principles of Success
There is a great book called 10 Spiritual Principles of Successful Women by Victoria Lowe.
In the book she lists five keys to success:
1) Have peace with yourself and your life!
I think this one is so important. How often do we just go through life merely existing but not living. Letting the trials of life consume us. We have to come to a place where we learn to have peace in the midst of the storms.
2) Commit to excellence
When you make a commitment to do something it means that no matter what comes up - you are determined to finish this task. Now this is one that I have had problems with - often letting circumstances alter my course. We have to determine in our minds that we are going to be successful and then set out to achieve this goal.
3) Operate with a servant's heart
I will quote directly from the book on this one - "A successful woman serves God's purpose rather than her own vanity, ego or personal agenda."
4) Pay the cost
Sometimes we want the success without the hard work that comes with it. We must be willing to put in the work to receive the rewards!
5) Know which season you are in
Are you trying to "harvest" when you should still be "sowing". We must first plant the seeds in order to reap the harvest. We also must make sure we are planting seeds that belong in our lives. Sometimes we are living a life we were never destined to live because we are planting the wrong seeds!
"Real success is discovered only after hard work."
Wishing you much success...and sending you those Diva Vybes!

Living - The Gift of Wisdom
Life is a gift of nature; but
beautiful living is the gift of wisdom. - Greek Adage
How many of us are really living...not just existing...but living life to the fullest.
Enjoying every things that comes with life...the good, the bad and the ugly!!!!
I know first hand that sometimes life can get overwhelming and it's definitely hard to see the silver lining and remain positive.
My challenge to us (yes me too) is that we do some "beautiful living"!
Let's give life those Diva Vybes...and live it up!

Welcome
Welcome to the first post on Diva Vybes! I have been setting up and playing with this blog all day - I am too tired...but wanted to post something (after all my hard work) tonight!
This blog will be kind of an extension of a group I started on Facebook called Ladies First (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=332786645960&ref=ts).
As women sometimes we don't realize our worth and how awesome and phenomenal God has made us...this is just my way to remind us and myself that we are fearfully and wonderfully made! Now let's get ready to spread those Diva Vybes!
